Project: Mommy Needs A Non-Diaper Bag

I have a beautiful purse. It's avocado green with chunky silver hardware and short (fake) leather handles so it slings just over my shoulder. It's comfy enough that I use it everyday, but funky enough that it pairs well with a dress and heels. I bought it once my son reached about 9 months when I just couldn't take one more day of the awful diaper bag I was carrying. I get compliments on it all the time and I just love it.

As planned, my beautiful chic green purse became the new "diaper bag." It's full of diapers, wipes, snacks, small toys and a mountain of cracker and Cheerio crumbs. I carry it everywhere and I still {heart} the green purse.

But every now and again, the stars align just right and Mommy goes out of the house alone. Can you fathom it? And those days, I don't want to lug all of the crumbs and toys and diapers with me. And if I wait the 10 minutes it takes to clean it out, my window of opportunity just might shut. So I began searching for my solution and it came to me...
Meet my new "no-diapers allowed" bag. OK, that's not an accurate title. Because I can almost promise you by tomorrow there will be at least one diaper in it. But it solves my diaper bag dilemma. Now I can grab my wallet, keys and whatever else I might need for my little outing and toss it in my bag without worrying if I remembered to leave the sippy cup with Daddy.

I just love how it sits just above my hip. Perfect!
It was a simple afternoon project and you can find the great tutorial I followed here on Quilting Diaries.

All it cost me was a little fabric, so for around $5, I have a new non-diaper bag bag!

You should sell them on Etsy.. Then I could have one for myself!
